Charles (“Chuck”) Gravett is the principal at the firm of Charles L. Gravett and focuses his practice in the areas of business and contract law:

BIOGRAPHY

Chuck has been a business lawyer since 1975, the year he graduated from the University of Virginia Law School, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

For twelve years Chuck worked in the legal department of Scott Paper Company, a Fortune 500 Company, where he specialized in business law, including mergers, acquisitions, antitrust, marketing, employee issues, and complete litigation.

Born and bred a Virginia gentleman, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Virginia in American Government. Chuck volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and served as a Platoon Commander in the Third Marine Division in Okinawa and with Marine Amphibious Forces in the Pacific Theater. Following a tour in Vietnam, Chuck served as an advisor to South Vietnamese infantry battalions in I Corps, South Vietnam. He returned for stateside duty at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia, and after an honorable discharge, entered law school.

Since 1987, Chuck has lived and worked in Napa. After four years of solo practice, Charles Gravett joined with (the late) Alan Balcher to form the firm of Gravett & Balcher. In 2006 he formed a partnership with attorney Elisabeth Frater, who recently moved her practice to Los Angeles.

Not content in managing a thriving law practice, Chuck is also very active in the Napa community. He is the city of Napa citizen appointee to Napa Sanitation District Board of Directors, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Information Network.

In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the State Assistance Fund for Energy and Business and Development Corporation (“SAFEBIDCO”). Chuck has also worked for over 20 years with Leadership of Napa Valley.

Chuck is married to Nadine Wade, a teacher at Napa Valley College and has a 26-year old daughter and an 10-year old son.

Napa Attorney Chuck Gravett recently completed an intensive 30-hour mediation training class offered by Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA.

Taught by industry expert John Townsend, a mediator with 35 years’ experience, the class covered formal and informal conflict resolution.

Attorney Gravett has participated in mediation services in the Bay Area for many years. This enhanced training, coupled with his extensive background in business, real estate, financial and tax issues, widens Charles’ expertise in helping businesses and individuals find mutually agreeable solutions to both simple and complex issues.
