Charles (“Chuck”)
Gravett is a partner at the firm of Gravett & Frater, LLP
and focuses his practice in the areas of business and contract law;
landlord/tenant law representing landlords; business formation
including corporations, LLCs and partnerships; business
transactions, wills and trusts and bankruptcy. Chuck also represents clients against
the IRS, Franchise Tax Board (“FTB”), State Board of Equalization (“SBE”)
and other tax agencies.
Chuck prides himself on finding practical and creative solutions to
your business and personal transactions.
Chuck has been a business lawyer since 1975, the year he graduated
from the University of Virginia Law School, in Charlottesville,
Virginia. For twelve years Chuck worked in the legal department of
Scott Paper Company, a Fortune 500 Company, where he focused on
business law including mergers, acquisitions, antitrust, marketing,
employee issues, and complete litigation.
Born and bred a Virginia gentleman, he earned a Bachelor’s
Degree at the University of Virginia in American Government. Chuck
volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and served as a
Platoon Commander in the Third Marine Division in Okinawa and with
Marine Amphibious Forces in the Pacific Theater. Following a tour in
Vietnam Chuck Gravett served as an advisor to South Vietnamese infantry
battalions in I Corps, South Vietnam. Chuck Gravett returned for stateside duty
at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia, and after an honorable
discharge, entered law school.
Since 1987, Chuck has lived and worked in Napa. After four years of
solo practice, Charles Gravett joined with (the late) Alan Balcher to form the firm of
Gravett & Balcher. In 2006 the partnership of Gravett & Frater, LLP
was formed with Elisabeth Frater .
Not content in managing a thriving law practice, Chuck is also very
active in the Napa community. He is the city of Napa citizen
appointee to Napa Sanitation District Board of Directors, is a
member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Information
Network. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of
the State Assistance Fund for Energy and Business and Development
Corporation (“SAFEBIDCO”). Chuck has also worked for 20 years with
Leadership of Napa Valley.
Chuck is married to Nadine Wade, a teacher at Napa Valley College
and has a 24-year old daughter and an eight-year-old son.♦
