Contingency Fees:

Contingency fees are not always easily understood in personal injury cases. This fee arrangement means you, the client, do not pay the attorney fees, until the attorney recovers money for you either by settlement or verdict.

This type of "pay upon recovery fee" opens the doors to the court house for the average person who might not be able to afford legal  fees ranging from $250 to $400 per hour. The contingent fee is to be distinguished from expenses or cost, which ordinarily remain an obligation of the client, although in many cases the attorney will advance expenses during the time the case is pending and will deduct the expenses from the client's share of any recovery at the conclusion of the case.

There are a number of advantages of this type of fee arrangement, the most obvious of which is the absence of a risk of owing the attorney a fee when there has been no recovery.  Not all cases are suitable for contingency fees. Those that are, usually include clear liability, probable substantial damages, and a solvent payor (like an insurance company.) Please call us and we can tell you if your case is appropriate for this type of fee arrangment.
